Olive Robinson, a Hibernia Graduate, completed her second teaching practice with sixth class in 2011.  Her art project produced in photostory shows examples of their art project based on water transport.

The pupils produced some excellent drawings, print-work and constructions of water vessels. This art project compiled their responses in a multimedia presentation. Best wishes in the future to all the students, From Miss Robinson.

Today, the longest day of the year as it happens, 21st June 2011, Scoil an Chlochair had it’s fourth Flag raising ceremony in as many years. This marked the end of a long programme of work and congratulations to Mrs. Jones and her Green School Committee on a wonderful achievement.

To perform the flag raising ceremony this year the Committee arranged for Gerry Duffy , who has recently completed 32 marathons in 32 consecutive days around Ireland and has published a book all about his endeavours titled , ” Who Dares Runs” and also local man Jimmy Murray who has also completed a marathon as he is over 93  years young, to do the honours. Well done to both of them.

Our teachers Mr.Moore, Mr.Rabbit and Ms. Guilfoyle also came on the trip.

We went on Wednesday the 15th of June until  Thursday the 16 th of June.

The journey took 3 hours , we got there at 1 p.m.

When we got there we put our bags on the grass and the instructor told us the rules.

We then put our bags in the sports hall and went for lunch. We had soup, chicken and spaghetti. We were split up into groups, there was 3 groups, group  20,21 and 22.

Group 20 went Kayaking and group 21 and 22 did Zip Wire and Climbing Tower.

It was really fun. Our activities ended at 5 p.m. We took our bags up to our rooms and were allowed mess around for an hour. We had our dinner at 6pm, we had chicken curry and rice.

Our whole class went for a Forest Walk with our instructor and we splashed each other with puddles but then got into trouble for doing that.

We got back at half past 8 p.m and had supper and then we watched a movie or went into the conservatory. We went back into our rooms and ate loads of sweets.

Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Tuesday

Posted by: Mr. O'Gorman | March 17, 2011 | 1 Comment |

We made ( or should I say our French student Loise Rambeau who is visiting the school as a Student Teacher ) made crepes or pancakes in our Language with the help of some staff and students. Loise was very impressed with the school as we were equally impressed with her. Thanks for the memories Loise and good luck to you in the future. Here are some pics and an audio of the happenings on Shrove Tuesday.
